River Eves Earns Title I Distinction

The Roswell school was one of four in Fulton to be recognized.

For the second time, River Eves Elementary School of Roswell has been named a High Performance School in the Title I category by the Georgia Department of Education.

River Eves was one of four Fulton schools named among the best Title I schools by the state. The others are the KIPP South Fulton Academy, McNair Middle School and Hapeville Charter Middle School.

Title I is a federal program that provides additional funding to schools serving children in high poverty areas and who are most at risk for not meeting the state’s performance standards.

The funds are distributed by the federal government, through the Georgia Department of Education, to assist in educating students who are economically disadvantaged.

The Georgia Department of Education will recognize Reward Schools at its annual Title I conference later this school year.

“These recognitions are important to our Title I schools, and to our school system,” said Fulton Superintendent Robert Avossa. “It shows that our schools are making improvement, raising standards, and doing the hard work needed to close the achievement gap.”
