The Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps competed and placed eighth in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) World Championships at the Navy-Marine Stadium in Annapolis, MD, over Labor Day weekend thanks in part to the talent of some musicians and staff.
Atlanta CV - which is composed of just over 100 brass and percussion musicians, as well as Color Guard of all ages - includes 14 members, alumni and staff from the RHS Band and Color Guard.
The group began rehearsals in December and then spent every summer weekend learning and perfecting their dynamic 2012 production "God Save the Queen" to prepare for competitions with other drum corps around the world, according to RHS Band Board member Patti Lyons.
Atlanta CV traveled to Nokesville, VA; Downington, PA; the Georgia Dome; Douglasville, GA and Annapolis, MD to compete in several competitions, which were judged for visual performance, music performance, color guard and general effect.
