Roswell Girls Defeat Milton in Region Tournament 46-40

Lady Hornets advance to championship game on Saturday

The Milton Lady Eagles came into the Region 6AAAAA basketball tournament as the No. 2 seed, but their region championship hopes were dashed by the Roswell Hornets on Friday.

Both teams struggled in the first period of play. The quarter ended with Milton holding a five-point lead at 10-5.  Roswell came back in the second period, taking a 17-16 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Poor passing by Milton led to several costly turnovers in the second half.  That, plus Roswell's ball control offense, allowed the Lady Hornets to open a 30-20 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Eagles fought back, but could get no closer than six, with Roswell posting a 46-40 victory.

Roswell will play Alpharetta in the region championship game on Saturday.  Milton will face Northview in the consolation game.
