School Lunch Money Goes Mobile in Fulton

A first-of-its-kind app for makes it easy for busy parents to pay for child's school meals on-the-go.

Lunch money just got smart. Just in time for the kickoff of a fresh school year, Fulton County School parents will have the option of using their iPhone or iPad to pay for child’s school meals.

The free app – called MyPaymentsPlus – was designed to help busy parents and guardians make on-the-go meal payments with just a few keystrokes. The app also enables parents to see what foods their children choose in the cafeteria, a feature that can be helpful for parents seeking to instill healthy eating habits.

"The MyPaymentsPlus app is easy to use," said Tina Bennett, vice president of online payments systems for Horizon Software International, which developed the app. "Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for parents to manage school-related payments. The app also gives school districts a great payment option to provide the families they serve."

Through the app, parents can check their children’s account balances, review recent transactions and add money using a credit card, debit card, savings account, or checking account. Each account can be personalized with a child’s photo, and the app automatically alerts parents when preset balances are low.

The MyPaymentsPlus app is currently available for the Apple iPhone and iPad, and is being developed for Google’s Android operating system. New features and functionality will be released in future generations of the product. For more information, visit the website.
