The Cottage School Students Get TV News Insights

WSB's Mike Petchenik was a Career Café visitor last Friday at the Roswell school.

Thanks to Lesley Masisak of The Cottage School for the information and photo about its special visitor last week:

On Friday, January 24th, students at Roswell’s The Cottage School (TCS) got a first-hand look into the life of a television news reporter, as WSB correspondent Mike Petchenik spoke for over an hour at their monthly Career Café.

TCS’s Career Café is an opportunity for people in various fields of work come to speak to the students about their career paths that led them to their current jobs. Past speakers have included firefighters, nurses, veterinarians and authors.

With topics ranging from his favorite moments in reporting to what to do during on-air technical difficulties, it was a morning the students will never forget.

According to college counselor, Abby Blackwell, “The students were engaged from the moment Mike began speaking and it was such a treat to have him share his insight and experience with our high school students. I can’t wait to see how many of our students decide to look a little more closely at a journalism degree after hearing what he had to say!”
