Atlanta Junior Rowing Competes at US Rowing Youth Nationals

Local rowers placed nationally at a recent event in early June.

Once again, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association (AJRA) rowers capped another exciting rowing season at the US Rowing Youth National Championships when rowers from their Women’s Varsity 8+ boat placed second in the C-level final, finishing 14th overall.

AJRA’s Women’s Varsity 4+ boat also placed sixth  in the C-level final, finishing 18th overall while AJRA’s Men’s Varsity 2- placed in the top 22 and Men’s Varsity Lightweight 8+ placed in the top 23 boats in the country.

All in all, AJRA brought 25 high school rowers to Nationals with the Women’s Varsity 8+, Women’s Varsity 4+, Men’s Lightweight 8+, and Men’s Varsity 2-, after these boats qualified by placing in the top three in the U.S. Rowing Southeast Regionals in Sarasota in early May.

This year over 1,500 high school athletes from 316 crews from 30 states competed in the US Rowing Youth National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee during the weekend of June 8-10.

As the Atlanta region’s oldest junior rowing club, AJRA located in Roswell offers summer Learn to Row camps for teens ages 12-18, Developmental Rowing for seventh and eighth graders, and competitive rowing at the Novice and Varsity levels for both high school men and women.
