Eight FCS Players Named to All-Region Football Team

Several Paladins will be playing in a North Fulton-Forsyth all-star game next week.

Congrats to the following football players at Fellowship Christian Academy for being named to the All-Region team for Class 6-A. Here are the details from John Heid, the school's sports information director: 

The Fellowship varsity football team is well represented on the All-Region Football Team as eight Paladins were selected. The Paladins posted one of the best seasons in school history with a 5-5 record under first-year head coach Al Morrell.

FCS seniors Hunter Bryant (quarterback), Taylor Cookston (defensive back), Alex Edmonds (wide receiver) and Clay Hostetter (offensive line) were selected for the first team.

Senior Ian Berryman was named to first team special teams unit, while junior Dalton Depew (wide receiver and defensive back), was selected for the second team for both offense and defense.

Senior James Wilson (linebacker and fullback) was picked for the second team defensive unit, while sophomore Jake Williamson (kicker) was named to the second team special teams squad.

Berryman punted 32 times for 1,305 yards, an average of 40.78 yards per punt this season. As a receiver, he ranked second on the squad with 32 catches and was third with 320 receiving yards.

Bryant posted one of the best offensive seasons in school history, collecting 1,906 yards and 17 touchdown passes. Bryant went 119-for-218 this season and added two rushing touchdowns.

Cookston was second on the FCS squad with 49 solo stops and 67 total tackles. The senior running back led the ground attack with 408 yards on 68 carries, and hauled in nine passes for 199 yards. He shared third on the club fellow senior Jack Wise with four TDs.

Edmonds led the team with 37 catches, 593 receiving yards, eight TD catches and shared the team lead in total TDs with fellow senior Travis Kinney (eight apiece).

Hostetter anchored an offensive line that helped the Paladin offense gain 3,439 yards in 10 games (1,975 thought the air and 1,464 on the ground).

Depew, who led the team with an average of 27.32 yards per catch, finished second on the team with 519 receiving yards on 19 catches.

Defensively, Wilson led the club with 63 solo tackles and 76 total stops. Wilson was second on the Paladins with 269 rushing yards on 48 carries.

Williamson made 35-of-36 extra-point attempts and connected on 4-of-8 field-goal attempts.

Berryman, Bryant, Cookston, Edmonds, Hostetter, Kinney and Wilson will play in the 2013 Chamber Bowl, an all-star game sponsored by the North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club. 

The game is slated for Saturday, Dec. 21, at Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs at 1 p.m. The Paladins will be part of the South team, which is comprised of players from Fulton County schools. The players to field the North team come from Forsyth County schools.

FCS Athletic Director Bryan Lindner has been selected to serve as General Manager for the South Team, and Paladin varsity defensive coordinator Sandy Stephens has been picked as one of the assistant coaches for the South squad.
