Elite New Soccer Club Partners with Roswell Sports Center

An informational meeting will be held at Wall to Wall Sports Center on April 13. Tryouts for the new club will be held in May and June.

Wall to Wall Sports Center (W2W) in Roswell will soon partner with Southern Soccer Academy (SSA) to offer a new competitive youth soccer club.

SSA is the official development partner of European Champions Chelsea FC. Their newest club, SSA Roswell, will operate out of the redeveloped 8.2 acre W2W facility on Cox Road - along the Roswell/Milton border - starting in the fall of 2013.

"We have been exploring opportunities to partner with an establish local competitive club over the last six months and we feel that SSA Chelsea, as the largest and one of the strongest clubs in the area, gives us a very strong affiliation," said Jon Conway, owner of W2W.

SSA Roswell will serve as a satellite venue for SSA, offering academy level teams for boys and girls in the U9, U10, U11 and U12 age divisions as well as older age group teams on demand, according to information provided by Conway. A club press release notes that Elite level players have the opportunity to progress into regional and national level teams throughout the SSA Club network, which includes over 4,000 players playing out of nine locations across three states. SSA Roswell will be the tenth SSA club location. They join: Carrollton, Cobb, Coweta, Douglasville, Kennesaw, Little Rock, Nashville, Paulding and Savannah.

"We are excited to introduce SSA to the Roswell/Milton community and reach out to new players who may not be able to get to our existing locations," said SSA Director of Soccer Steve Gummer, in a press release. "With the size of our player network, the quality of player development and top level partnership with Chelsea FC, we feel we can offer an exciting soccer option to families in East Cobb and North Fulton Counties."

The partnership was very logical, according to Conway.

"At W2W we have a growing youth recreation program and we can now provide an easy pathway for those players into academy and competitive club-level play," he said. "Through our partnership with SSA, we can provide local families with the best of all options with a top-level youth academy program utilizing the unique W2W facilities on their door-step."

Team tryouts will be held in May and June 2013. Practices will begin in late July and the youth soccer season will officially start the weekend after Labor Day.

"We feel this will be a very exciting initiative for the local area," Conway told Patch.

SSA Roswell will host a parent information meeting on Sunday, April 13 at 5 p.m. Information on the new SSA Roswell program will be presented.

The session will be held in the W2W clubhouse at 170 Cox Road in Roswell, at the junction of Roswell Road and Arnold Mill Road. Visit the SSA website for more information or contact Jon Conway at 770-674-1774 or by-email at jonconway@w2wsports.net.
