On March 3, the Kiwanis Club of Historic Roswell, in partnership with Keep Roswell Beautiful and the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department, will kick off their Tree Education Program at Roswell Area Park. The kick-off is part of the City of Roswell’s Arbor Day Celebration and will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building in Roswell Area Park.
Mayor Jere Wood will present an Arbor Day proclamation and the Mayor and Council will plant a tree.
The focus of the project is to educate the public about the trees in the park and also to provide fun and interesting facts about different species. Permanent educational signs are being placed at 22 different locations along the park’s circumferential trail. A field guide book will be available to assist in identification of the trees.

The project was conceived and developed by Roger Lamprey, a board member of both the Kiwanis Club of Historic Roswell and of Keep Roswell Beautiful. It was funded by a grant received by Keep Roswell Beautiful from Fulton County.
