Ex-Roswell Hornet Earns Mercer Game Ball

Wilson Heres was a big part of the Bears' big win last weekend.

Roswell resident Leslie Heres was more than excited to pass along the news that her son, former Roswell Hornet football player Wilson Heres, earned the game ball last week in Mercer University's 61-0 win over Warner

Wilson Heres, a sophomore offensive lineman, graded out at 92 percent and had three "pancake" blocks as the Bears rushed for 402 yards.

A three-time letterwinner for the Hornets, he graduated from Roswell High School in 2011 and initially attended the U.S. Air Force Academy before transferring to Mercer.

He has declared a major in computer engineering and a minor in economics.

Mercer, located in Macon, is 3-0 in its first season of varsity football since 1941, when the sport was discontinued due to World War II.
