Kings Ridge Hangs On to Defeat Fellowship Christian

Paladins fall to Region 5-A foe.

Freshman running back Tarez Miller rushed for 235 yards and two touchdowns to lead King’s Ridge Christian to a 37-25 win at Fellowship Christian Friday night.

King's Ridge opened the scoring with a touchdown reception by Devon Schmitt at the 9:03 mark of the first quarter. A few minutes later, Michael Okafor Connor Burns (15)  added a field goal to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead.

The Paladins added a field goal of their at the end of the first quarter, and trailed the Tigers by a score of 10-3.

Kings Ridge managed to mount a touchdown-scoring drive in the second quarter and took a 17-3 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.

With 5:28 remaining in the third quarter, Fellowship Christian closed to within a touchdown (17-10) when the Paladins' Landon Kadi intercepted a Tiger pass and returned it 72 yards for a touchdown.

But the potent Kings Ridge offense was not done yet. The Tigers extended their lead to 24-10 on a second touchdown pass to Devon Schmitt.  The Tigers running game continued to grind out the yardage adding another touchdown. With 8:00 remaining in the fourth quarter, Kings Ridge held a 31-17 lead.

With 2:20 left in the game the Tigers posted yet another touchdown, but failed on the attempt at a two point conversion, making the score 37-17.

The Fellowship Christian offense was not through.  With one minute remaining in the game Paladin quarterback Blais Furse completed a pass to Hunter Bryant which went 60 yards for a touchdown. The Paladins ended the scoring with a successful two point conversion after the touchdown.

King's Ridge improved to 3-1; Fellowship Christian fell to 2-1.
