Lady Hornets Win Postponed Game Over Northview In Double Overtime

In a game that began Friday but was paused and postponed due to bad weather, the Roswell girls Soccer Team defeated Northview 1-0 in Double Overtime.

It took four days to complete; however, the girls soccer game between Roswell and Northview finally resumed Monday afternoon at Roswell High School with the Lady Hornets scoring the loan goal of the game in dobule overtime to defeat the Lady Titans 1-0.

The game, which started Friday afternoon, was paused early in the second half due to thunderstorms, but replayed Monday exactly where it left off. In the first half of the game, Northview controlled most of the run of play and had more chances to score, but both teams went into halftime with the score tied 0-0.

The second half started with a steady rain until lightning flashed with about 13 minutes into the half. Then the rain and thunderstorms came and the game was stopped.  It resumed Monday under mostly sunny skies and a cool breeze, far different from the conditions three days earlier.

During the rest of the second half, Roswell generated more chances to score, but the Lady Hornets were unable to do so and regulation ended with both teams still tied at 0-0. After the first five minute overtime, which saw no goals, both teams entered a second five minute overtime period. With about 35 seconds left in the second overtime, the Northview defense was unable to clear the ball. Roswell senior Ingraham Loper intercepted the ball, took a shot just outside the 18 yard box and scored to give Roswell the 1-0 win.
