Milton at (Thursday): This rare Thursday night game (7:30 p.m., televised by WSB on Comcast 248 and Charter 127) matches teams that are a combined 2-7 and haven’t won since their season-openers. That probably wasn’t what the producers had in mind when the game was scheduled, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t an important game. In wide-open Region 6-AAAAA, where five of the seven teams are 1-3, 1-4 or 0-5, the winner of this game will step into playoff contention. Milton (1-3 overall), which is opening it regions schedule, has had a week off since losing 28-17 to Lassiter two weeks ago. Centennial (1-4, 0-1) may still be hurting from last week’s 70-20 loss to West Forsyth. Milton 27, Centennial 20.

Westminster at : The Region 6-AA, Div. B opener is vital for both teams. Westminster (1-3), the defending subegion champion, hasn’t beaten a Georgia team; Blessed Trinity (also 1-3) has lost two in a row against state-ranked competition, but can move the ball. Blessed Trinity 21, Westminster 17.

Pinecrest Academy at : Both teams have lost two in a row, but in different ways. Fellowship (2-2) was competitive in losses to King’s Ridge and Wesleyan. Pinecrest (2-3) has been outscored 70-3 in losses to Mt. Pisgah and Holy Innocents’. Fellowship 23, Pinecrest 15.
