The Hornets offensive line blocking and execution at the line-of scrimmage allowed them to move the ball on the ground, and complete a long pass to take a 12-0 lead in the game by the end of the first half. The entire third quarter and well into the 4th was dominated by the Alpharetta Blue Eagles who put together a single 70 yard drive consisting of a series of off-tackle runs and a tackle eligible pass to make it a close 12-6 game with 5 minutes left to go in the 4th.

Once the hornets again had the ball in the 4th quarter they mounted another impressive scoring drive of their own, led by their offensive line, to put the game seemingly out of reach at 18-6.  However, the Alpharetta Blue Eagles returned the ensuing kick-off for a 70-yard score to rally once again and bring the game to within six points.

With less than a minute remaining the Roswell White Hornets fielded the on-side kick, took possession of the ball and ran out the clock with a final score of 18-12.

This game lived up to its billing as a key big game for the 5th grade division for the coaches, fans, and the players.  There was a great turnout for the game and everyone who came out, parents and friends, all were very proud of the performance of the boys on both sides of the ball.

Both teams have every right to hold their heads high for playing hard and giving it everything they had till the buzzer sounded at end of the game.
