Sister Act the Most Fun I've Had at the Theater In Some Time

The creators behind the broadway version of Sister Act skillfully balanced solid music, jaw dropping talent, and "Broadway Magic" with the comedy you'd expect from producer Whoopi Goldberg.

This week’s treat: Sister Act at the Fox Theatre.

I, like everyone else in the U.S. of A, have seen the delightful 1992 film. With that in mind, I was expecting an amusing night out at the theater and not much more. Having recently attended Flashdance, also at the Fox, I was expecting a similar movie copy-cat experience. Well, it turns out that this musical far exceeded those expectations!

Sister Act is the most fun I’ve had at the theater in a long time! The creators behind the broadway version of Sister Act skillfully balanced solid music, jaw dropping talent, and “Broadway Magic” with the comedy you’d expect from producer Whoopi Goldberg. The lead playing Deloris Van Cartier, Ta’rea Campbell, was amazing! Her voice literally gave me goosebumps. E. Clayton Cornelious as Eddie Souther was pretty darn great too.

The entire cast was outstanding and they had the crowd tapping their feet, laughing, and groovin’ in their seats. At the end of the musical the packed Fox Theatre audience hopped to their feet and enthusiastically gave a standing ovation.
