The Strong4Life Superhero Sprint!

We are excited to announce our first annual Strong4Life Superhero Sprint! We want your family to put on their capes and help us fight childhood obesity on Saturday, June 8 at Piedmont Park!

When you're asked to describe a superhero as a kid, images of a caped crusader with superpowers come to mind. As an adult, however, you know real-life superheroes walk among us every day. Some are obvious, like police officers, fire fighters and our military men and women, but we can't forget our silent heroes, like the pastors, coaches, siblings and even the school lunch ladies who fix nutritious foods to fuel young bodies.

For me, however, the super-est of all superheroes are parents just like you. Your persistence and commitment to keeping your family healthy and strong is, in my eyes, what makes you a true Wonder Woman/Superman in my books.

This is why I am so excited about the first-ever Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Strong4Life Superhero Sprint at Piedmont Park on June 8!  Celebrating the superhero in all of us, this event will raise funds so Strong4Life can continue to fight Georgia’s childhood obesity epidemic, while getting your family moving.  Never done a 5K before?  No worries, there’s also a 1-mile fun run!  Aren't a runner?  You don't have to be, you can also walk at whatever pace feels comfortable.

I'm actually most excited about meeting all you first-time 5K-ers who are using this event as an opportunity to try new activities as a family.  Don't worry though, you're not in this alone- Strong4Life will be there for you every step of the way.  Visit our website, Facebook and Twitter pages for information about nutrition and training (whether you walk or run).  Also, we encourage you to post any questions you may have for our nutritionists and exercise experts - we are always here to help you!

In addition to the walk/run, we will also have a fun Superhero costume contest. Your kids, or those of you young at heart, are encouraged to dress as your favorite superhero - whether that's Batman, your favorite teacher or even your dad (since Father's Day is the very next weekend).  Our soon-to-be-announced panel of esteemed Georgia dads will be giving out awards in the child and adult categories.

Mark your calendars right now for the Strong4Life Superhero Sprint on June 8 and show your kids what it means to be a real-life superhero.  I can't wait to meet you all there!
