Roswell's Adult Swim Team Wins 2012 Championship

The Adult Swim team capped off an undefeated 2012 season by winning the 2012 Atlanta Swim League Championship at Georgia Tech on Sunday, July 1. 

Led by head coach Kyle Smith and assistant coaches Cynthia Lou and Weaver Ellard, the adult team members competing at the championship meet were Kelly Alexander, Anne Barnes, Dan Beatty, Ryan Bried, Cathy Burkle, John Cherok, Kevin Cook, Clarin Ellard, BJ Fendler, Santiago Flores, Jon Gellin, Tara Guinn, Ali Ibarguen, Andrew Ibarguen, Ig Ibarguen, Erica Kenny, Ian King, Jonathan Luckhurst, Bob Manley, Teresa McAree, Gordon Powichroski, Kathy Ramminger, Mike Ross, Liz Saint, John Schnauss, Alain Sergile, Kyle Smith, Russ Thomas, Chrissy Warrilow, Phyllis Warrilow and Charlie Weiss.

The individual event championship records set during the event by Roswell team members, included:

  • Jon Gellin - Men 30-39 200 Free - 1:54.38
  • Ig Ibarguen - Men 50 & Over 50 Back - 30.79
  • Mike Ross - Men 40-49 50 Back - 24.11; 100 IM - 53.85; 200 Free - 1:50.28
  • Alain Sergile - Men 40-49 50 Fly - 23.57

Dan Beatty, Ignacio Ibarguen, Mike Ross and Alain Sergile also combined to set two championship relay records in the Men 40 & Over 200 Medley Relay (1:44.24) and 200 Freestyle Relay (1:33.05).

The Roswell Adult Swim team is open to all swimmers, residents and non-residents, ages 19 and older as of June 1. The team practices also continue through July and August.
