Roswell Resident Releases YA Book

A good summer read for teens. New Young Adult Paranormal book by Roswell, GA. author, Khloe Kamalis, "V.A.M.P.S.~ ATL." Not a vampire story...

Author Khloe Kamalis grew up in the south and resides in Roswell, Ga., a city that is inundated with ghost stories.

Roswell contains the remains of two mills, one a cotton mill and one a woolen mill. Strange stories abound encircling these two old mills and the old, antebellum homes in and around the Roswell community, dating as far back as the Civil War. Throw in a few legends of the Native American Cherokee tribe and Khloe has created a story.

Her new, Young Adult series, "V.A.M.P.S. ~ ATL ~ The Young Immortals” has been released. The book is written in blog form from the alternating point of view of six teenagers. Through these blogs the story is woven and told, as well as an insight to the teens themselves.

Khloe drew from her many experiences living in and around Atlanta and the suburbs of Roswell to come up with plot ideas. From the rumored vampires and ghosts existing in the old Dupree mill in Atlanta - now known as The Masquerade nightclub - to the old churches and haunted antebellum homes of Roswell, she put together the stories and wove them into the three books of the series she calls a Southern gothic trilogy.

The first book of the Young Adult series (ages 14 and up), “V.A.M.P.S. ~ ATL.” takes place in Atlanta and Roswell. The story begins with the disappearance of lead singer and rhythm guitarist, seventeen year old Savannah McLeod, from the band, V.A.M.P.S. ~ ATL. During summer vacation to the North Georgia mountains, Savannah learns has been deceived by her adoptive parents for years about her birth right and her existing family. When she meets her grandpa, a full blooded Cherokee Nunnehi (spiritual man), she learns she is the girl in the ancient prophecy that states, “when the planets align and time as man knows it comes to an end, a young girl will save mankind from the destruction.” Somehow the year 2012 is thought to be the end of time. The love relationships between the teens is also touched upon in their individual blogs. (No sex please, this is strictly YA) Savannah's boyfriend, Alex falls to the wayside when bad boy, the handsome and mysterious Decimus Estan, lead singer and founder of the band Estan, slips into her life. Celestial battles begin, some fall, some make it through. It's just the beginning of what is to come. The teens are made up of various Angels, Nephilim, Cherokee skinwalkers and of course the Strigorim.

In case one thinks this is a book about vampires, it's not. Though they exist in the book, Khloe has created a new breed called Strigorim. Their creation will be explained in book two of the series, which goes back in time to the Civil War era and takes place in Roswell before slipping back into the present in book three and the year 2012.

Khloe has written and released two books, the first being “For The Love Of Cyprus”, a family saga/love story (Adult) that takes place on the island of Cyprus during the invasion of the island by the Turkish in 1974. It's fiction based on the memoirs of her mother and father. The book “For The Love Of Cyprus” has a five star rating and is available also on Amazon.com in the United States, as well as Europe, where it sells very well. There is also a film option negotiation on the book at this time.

Khloe is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and is an acomplished musician. She lives in the historic part of the city of Roswell, surrounded by the old antebellum homes, the mills and down the street from the famed Roswell Ghost Tour. She lives with her mother and father, three cats and her new chihuahua puppy.

Both books can be found on Amazon.com and a Look Inside Preview is available.
