Roswell resident wins third place in Atlanta Bike to Work Challenge

Roswell's John Fritz recently took third place in the 2nd annual Atlanta Bike to Work Challenge. John has been cycling his 15.5-mile commute from Roswell to Duluth about once a week for the past six years, but during the Challenge, he did it every workday. His finished third out of hundreds of competitors across metro Atlanta, and his finish is particularly impressive because commute distance is not a factor in determining winners.

John enjoys biking to work because of the chance to exercise, the money he saves, and the fact that it helps the environment. His commute takes about one hour, which is longer than driving. However, because he is combining his commute and his workout into one trip, he actually saves time overall.

He utilizes the Big Creek Greenway for seven miles of his commute, and goes out of his way to be courteous to drivers and avoid holding up traffic. John won a performance rain jacket from Patagonia for finishing in third.
