Living Water International: 'Local Residents Can Help Provide Clean Water to the World'

Living Water International (LWI), a national nonprofit organization and one of the global leaders in international clean water projects, will host a public awareness event in Roswell, Sunday, Oct. 7.

In 1990, LWI began drilling water wells as a part of its Christian ministry. Since then, they have worked to provide clean water to communities in 24 countries throughout the world. The idea is to engage communities in their own transformation by helping them gain access to safe, sustainable drinking water, hygiene and sanitation education.

The local public awareness event, THIRSTY?, is set to be an open house style community outreach, which will showcase how local residents can help change the world one cup of clean water at a time.

“We are excited to host this event and hope Atlanta residents will become inspired and passionate about helping us be part of the solution to the global water crisis,” said Alice Champagne, the Atlanta chapter coordinator and Roswell's Water Resources manager. “One person can have an amazing influence and we look forward to making new friends and expanding our impact through this event.”

By supporting an advocacy campaign, organizing an H2O Project, running a 5K or being part of a short-term mission trip to build a well in a developing country, attendees will learn about all the different ways they can partner with LWI, according to a recent press release.

THIRSTY? will take place at coffee shop on South Atlanta Street in Roswell from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Complimentary appetizers and coffee will be served. Special music will be provided by Carisa Turner, an Atlanta-based singer/songwriter and speakers from the organization will begin at 3:15 p.m.
