Local Temples to Hold October Relay for Life Event in Roswell

The north Atlanta Jewish community kick off their own Relay for Life at Temple Beth Tikvah, Sunday, Aug. 19.

A dozen temples in the North Atlanta area are banding together this fall in the name of fighting cancer.

Currently, organizers are working to put together an Oct. 14 inaugural Relay for Life event at . Created for those who, due to various restrictions, could not participate in the traditional relay, this relay is the first of its kind in the history of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. 

A kickoff event, Sunday, Aug. 19, will provide information on the relay, event registration, team fundraising, responsibilities of a team captain and survivor participation. Ruach Atlanta will have people on site helping participants register teams for this historic event. Participants will have an opportunity to meet some of the people whose lives have been changed because of Relay for Life and The American Cancer Society.

"If we, as a community, want Ruach Relay to flourish, we must step forward and be counted. The work of a few Atlanta metro synagogues could be the foundation for a worldwide relay in the coming years," said a statement sent out by Rauch Atlanta.

The kickoff for the inaugural Relay for Life Ruach Atlanta will take place on Sunday, Aug. 19 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at in Roswell. Anyone interested in Relay should attend the kickoff and find out how they can be counted. Remember that one person can make a difference. You can make a difference in the success of this groundbreaking event and in the race for a cure.
