National Charity League Honors Local Graduating Seniors

The local Gardenia Chapter honored graduating high school seniors for their commitment to their community.

The National Charity League, Inc., Gardenia Chapter recently honored their graduating high school seniors for their commitment and service to the community at a formal Senior Presentation held at Olde Towne Athletic Club in Marietta, Georgia. 

The mission of National Charity League is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. The Gardenia Chapter is a relatively new chapter serving East Cobb, East Cherokee and Roswell. The 250 or more members currently serve 13 local philanthropies and contributed more than 5,100 volunteer hours from April 1, 2011 – March 31, 2012.

“We are very proud of our 21 remarkable senior girls who will be graduating from five area high schools in the coming weeks, including on May 18, Blessed Trinity High School on May 19, Greater Atlanta Christian on May 24, Walton High School on May 24, and The Kings Academy on June 2," said Donna Lee, president of the Gardenia Chapter. "The experience of being an active member of National Charity League has provided them with a wonderful foundation in community service and has given them the skills and confidence they need to take on leadership roles within their chosen college campuses and communities.”

Three members of the 2012 senior class, all from Roswell High School, received top service awards for league and philanthropy hours. The three honorees are Julia Hallowell, Elizabeth Kadrich, and Meghan Gibson who contributed a total of 147 league and philanthropy hours this year. Additionally, the top achiever for the entire Gardenia Chapter of more than 250 members is Brenna Heflin from who received the Merci Award for contributing the most philanthropy hours. She also received the Yellow Rose Award for contributing 75 philanthropy hours above what is required of every student member and the Senior Service Award for earning more philanthropy hours than any other member of the class of 2012 during her membership with the Gardenia Chapter. Emma Williams, also a senior at , earned the Yellow Rosebud Award for earning 50 philanthropy service hours above what is required of every student member.

“National Charity League has provided me the humble opportunity to serve others in the community and it has been a blessing to reach people that have unknowingly taught me so much. Learning and growing with others through a heart of service has established the most meaningful of connections through the simple acts of love and kindness,” Heflin said.
