NFCC Annual Community Breakfast Honors Local Partners

NFCC thanks community members for their support.

One hundred and twenty supporters from the civic, faith, business and  community attended ’ Annual Community Breakfast to help celebrate the community’s impact on the lives of families in North Fulton.

The breakfast was held last week, on Wednesday, Nov. 9, to honor the supporters of NFCC and to highlight the great works that this organization provides to local families in need. Following an opening by NFCC Board President John Schiavone, program participants Kay Anderson and Bill Sullens shared their amazing stories and brought the room to tears.

The breakfast gave NFCC an opportunity to recognize all supporters in the community and thank them for their continued involvement. The event also allowed both new and existing supporters time to focus on upcoming holiday projects, a new fundraising campaign for NFCC being launched in February, 2012 called “Have A Heart for NFCC,” and to see the difference their support is making in the lives of their neighbors.

Civic Partner of the Year: Roswell Rotary

Jim Coyle, Director of the Roswell Rotary Foundation, accepted the Partner Award on behalf of Roswell Rotary Club. Roswell Rotary has supported NFCC every year with donations of food and funds. The club funded our walk in cooler/freezer which allows NFCC to participate in food recovery programs of restaurant and prepared food. Rotarians volunteer and participate in holiday and special programs throughout the year. Just since 2003 the Rotary Club of Roswell has contributed a total of $92,000 to NFCC. Thanks Rotarians!

Business Partner of the Year: Coupon Mom

Stephanie Nelson aka The Coupon Mom has supported NFCC for 11 years. She started donating food to the pantry through her church Roswell Presbyterian and began to multiply her donations by using coupons. She was soon teaching others to save money using coupons and has grown a successful national business known as Couponmom.com. Her passion is to help others save money on their personal food budget and encourage them to donate to local food pantries.

Volunteer of the Year: George Berekashvili

George stops by NFCC every day to tidy up around the back of our building, especially the dumpster area. As you can imagine, NFCC generates a lot of trash which can quickly get out of hand without constant attention. George is proud to be helping and always has a big smile. Originally from Russia, George has lived in Roswell for many years. He works at a nearby Publix. NFCC is a more attractive and safer place because of George’s volunteer efforts.
