Playful, Loving Young Cat Needs Family

Abner is our Rescue Pet of the Week from Angels Among Us.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is looking for a new home for Abner, a sweet 10-12-month-old short-haired black kitty. According to Abner's foster mom, this is the most affectionate kitty ever. He was found on a neighbor's back porch on one of the coldest winter nights in December.

Although Abner was scared, he ran into her arms as soon as he realized she wanted to help. It was later determined that he was abandoned by his owner who had moved away. Poor Abner was in a half-starvation state and in need of medical care. It took him a while to recover from several months of deprivation, but he is doing great now.

Abner is quite the teenager with his antics. He is very lively and adventurous, and likes to climb, jump run, and talk to people. He loves to play "fetch" and can actually catch toys right out of the air when thrown to him. In fact, sometimes he seems a bit more like a little dog than a cat.

Abner can also be very mellow and sweet. His favorite thing to do is to cuddle with members of his foster family and he will lay on laps purring constantly. (He's a great TV buddy.) His best friend is the family's 10-year-old boy, but he's great with the adults as well. All in all, he absolutely loves people, and anyone who is looking for a loving cat who is also playful will adore this kitty.

Abner is quite handsome, and has a shiny black coat and big golden eyes. He is small for his age, and may be for the rest of his life. But his heart is huge!

Unfortunately, Aber has a problem relating to other cats, probably because he has been on his own for so long. He would do best as the only cat in a household. He has had some exposure to dogs, and although is cautious of them, doesn't seem to mind them.

Abner has been tested for feline diseases, is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He is good about using his litter box and does not spray.

For information about adopting Abner, contact his foster mom at 404-914-8672 or allison_nicole84@hotmail.com.
