'Rise 'N Run' Encourages Support for Local Organizations

North Fulton Community Charities and The Cottage School will team up to host a family fun run in September.

(NFCC) and (TCS) are partnering to host the 6th Annual “Rise ‘N Run” 5K/1K race during September.

The purpose of the event is to support enrichment programs and other services provided by NFCC and TCS via a family fun style race to take place at on Saturday, Sept. 8.

"Our enrichment programs empower adults to take control of their future and their circumstances," said Eden Purdy, program director at NFCC. "The life-skill classes we provide range from GED test tutoring, Job and Career Coaching, to ESOL. Like the Cottage School, we believe that everyone can become a productive contributing member of our community. We are proud to partner with them to support our common goals."

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m, with the race beginning at 7:30 a.m. This fun and friendly route is convenient for old or new, trained or tired, speedy or leisurely walkers or runners. Kids are encouraged to join for the first kilometer, which finishes in the park playground. Childcare will be provided as parents continue with the 5K.

"Because of The Cottage School’s strong commitment to athletics and the ability it has to improve a child’s self-esteem and confidence levels, we are so excited to be a part of the Rise and Run," said Lesley Masisak, Development and Community Relations manager at The Cottage School. "Being able to partner with NFCC and help bring awareness to the community about our amazing programs is just icing on the cake!"

The run's current 2012 sponsors are:

  • Presenting Sponsor: Coupon Mom
  • Supporter: Oxygen Financial
  • Booth Sponsors: Vitalita Chiropractors & Red Star
