The project - which takes place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. - is just one part of Hands On Atlanta’s goal to mobilize 3,000 volunteers in more than 50 projects on MLK Day this year.

The service event is also sponsoring two signature volunteer opportunities in downtown Atlanta. In partnership with Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless, Delta Air Lines’ “Touch the Heart, Feed the Body & Warm the Soul” project at Carver High School will mobilize volunteers to assemble 6,000 bagged lunches for distribution to those in need in Atlanta and package more than 10,000 recycled fleece blankets collected from Delta Air Lines’ aircraft fleet for distribution to Atlanta’s homeless population and community shelters. Volunteers from Alston & Bird will work with youth graduates of the Boys & Girls Club’s Keystone Leadership Program to paint several murals throughout the Boys and Girls Club facility as well as prepare the organization’s garden for spring planting.
