The girls soccer team will play First Presbyterian Day School, Saturday, May 19 at 6 p.m.
Fellowship Christian School Paladins girls soccer team advance to the state finals after defeating Pace Academy Wednesday night in overtime. When regulation time of the game ended in a score of 1-1, that game went to overtime and ended with no further score. A penalty kick shootout crowned the Paladins the victors, 3-1. "There were plenty of cards handed out on both sides but most noticeably was the red card given to the FCS goalie with four minutes left in regulation after a close play," said team photographer, Lisa Webb. "FCS went on to stop three of the Pace penalty kicks with our back up goalie, Emily Sonnett. It was a very intense game to say the least." **CORRECTION: The title game will be played at Milton High School. After defeating the Alpharetta Raiders, the Roswell High School Hornets girls lacrosse team is headed to the state championships on Saturday. The team won prior playoff games against Lassiter High School on May 9 (18-14) and Harrison (9-8) on May 12. But they finally clenched their place in the championship game Wednesday night when they won the game against Alpharetta, 14-13, in triple overtime. They go on to play the Milton High School Eagles for the state championship title on Saturday at Milton High School**. The game will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Milton High School, 13025 Birmingham Highway in Milton.
The team plays in Suwanee on Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m.
The Centennial High School boys soccer team will travel to Collins Hill in Suwanee Friday, May 18, to play for the 2012 state championship. It's a hard-faught honor for the team, which won their game against Parkview High School on Tuesday night 5-1. The Knights scored twice off throw-ins and twice on corner kicks, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The school website says the win was inevitable "right from the opening whistle," with skilled playing by the Knights dominating the game. The last time Centennial faced Collins Hill in the finals was during 2009, when several current seniors were freshman, according to the website. The team of five friends from Roswell plan to "shake and bake" the Red Bull Soapbox Race in June.
When the Red Bull Soapbox Race speeds into town for their 2012 Atlanta pit stop in June, a Roswell team will be among those who've accepted the challenge to race in the "all-out downhill derby for everlasting glory." Translation: this should get interesting. The team, dubbed "The Dirty Birds," consists of Josh Trombley, Ben Crist, Dave Evans, Wayne Mitchell and Michael Frost. Inspired by the racing spoof movie, "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," the friends are building a Formula 1 style race car sanctioned by fictional character, Bobby. The team had an exceptional year, which took them all the way to the top.
A worn and shabby tennis ball flies out of bounds. Peachtree Ridge’s Abigail Owens drops to the dimly lit pavement in a disheveled manner. Simultaneously, Summer Ralston and the supporting Roswell crowd erupt into a blissful cry. The remainder of the Roswell girls varsity tennis team rushes the court and encircle Ralston - their state championship dreams had finally come to fruition. The Hornets arrived at the Clayton County Tennis Center on the overcast afternoon of May 12 with a 20-game winning streak and a state championship on the line. After a brief rain delay, the girls handily defeated the Lowdes County Vikings in state semi-finals in a quick 3-0 rout. After defeating Harrison High School 9-8 on Saturday, the Roswell High School girls lacrosse team is moving onto the semifinals. The team plays Alpharetta High School at that school on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winning team goes onto to play in the state championship on Saturday, May 19.

The girls won the game against Aquinas School this past Saturday, May 12; allowing them to move on to the state semifinals.
Fellowship Christian School Paladins are still on the road to a much desired state championship after an impressive 7-0 win over the visiting Aquinas School from Augusta, Saturday, May 12. The team - which is led by eight seniors - has been knocked out of the state tournament by the eventual state champion each of the last two years, including a loss in the semifinals last year. Although the whole team has worked hard to get where they are now, the three Division One signees showed up strong Saturday as Emma Sonnet (ESPN ranked 89) led the defense to another shutout, Elizabeth Johnson (ESPN ranked 106) scored an early first half goal and Emily Sonnett (ESPN ranked 22) led the offense with five goals. The team will play Mill Creek tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The Centennial High School Knights boys soccer team will play Mill Creek High School at home in the state quarterfinals tonight, Friday, May 11. Of the 20 games they've played so far this season, the team has won 18 of them, tied once against Habersham Central High School and lost once against Lassiter High School. During the game on Tuesday, May 8, the Knight's beat out Harrison High School, 3-0. Connor Davis scored two goals and Will Harrison scored one goal for the team. Other players with notable performances in Tuesday's game were Ryan Spence, with two assists, MK Sibanda, with one assist, and Matt Celani with four saves, according to the team's website. Tonight's game will take place at Centennial at 7:30 p.m.

The Roswell High School girls lacrosse team defeated the Lassiter High School Trojans on Wednesday evening, May 9, in the first round of state playoffs. The team will now advance to play at Harrison High School in Kennesaw for the quarter finals on Saturday, May 12. The girls lacrosse website showed the the game time is still to be determined, as of Thursday morning.
