End date set for Thursday, Nov. 21.
Roswell commuters who use GA 400 take note: Back in March we told you that the tolls are coming down in November, and now we have more details. To lessen the impact on Thanksgiving travel, the tolls will end Thursday, Nov. 21, weather permitting, one week before the holiday, according to PeachPass.com. While demolition plans are still being finalized, "preliminary plans call for all GA 400 traffic to shift into three general purpose lanes where motorists currently use the electronic tolling lanes," said a newsletter from Peach Pass. Construction will begin in October for the traffic shift. No heavy work is expected during the winter holidays. Actual demolition of the tolls will take place January 2014 through May. In a recent press release the organization stated the following: American Atheists announced Friday that it will send the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GADNR) enough popular atheist books to place one in every state park cabin in the state. The threat of flooding may have passed, but concern over contamination of E.coli and other harmful bacteria increases.
The storms that rolled through Roswell and the metro area early Sunday morning (May 19) brought heavy rains - and the danger of flooding along the Chattachoochee River. The deluge caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning for Chattahoochee National Recreation Area and surrounding areas. While the danger of flooding may have passed, another emerges - the threat of E.coli and other bacteria contamination. According to the Chattahoochee BacteriALERT website, it's caused after a heavy rain, when fecal matter from warm-blooded animals, including dogs, cats, cows and wildlife, wash down into the river. Leaking sewage lines or spills from treatment plants can also cause levels to increase. It's the elevated levels of E.coli …

The ceremony has attracted thousands of people from throughout the state since 1997.
Georgia’s largest Memorial Day ceremony will march onto the grounds of Roswell City Hall, Monday, May 27, in celebration and remembrance of those lost defending our country. The annual ceremony began in 1997, when locals came together to create a unique Memorial Day event, in a non-political, non-commercial ceremony to honor veterans and those who gave all. The event was set on recognizing the sacrifices individuals from all over the country, as well as those from Roswell, had made in protecting our freedom. That first ceremony attracted approximately 1,800 individuals. Since then, the event has grown to attract thousands of people from throughout Georgia and the southeast.
