Runners Raise Money, Enjoy Beautiful Day in Historic District

Runners took to Canton Street early Saturday morning, April 13, to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Atlanta.

A large number of runners and spectators enjoyed the gorgeous weather, Saturday, April 13 while they raised money to benefit Children's Hospital of Atlanta. After completing a 5k and 10-miler, runners spent time taking in the live music at the Heart of Roswell Park and frequenting historic district businesses, which offered specials throughout the day.

Runners to Raise Money for CHOA in Historic Roswell

Local runners will get a chance to enjoy spring in historic Roswell while they help raise money for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, according to a community report by 11 Alive. Two races - a 5K and a 10 miler - will be held April 13 in historic Roswell on Canton Street. Both races kick off at 7 a.m. and will be followed by music, food and yoga, courtesy of lululemon. Hundreds of local residents turned out to participate and cheer on Roswell's 62nd Annual Frances McGahee Youth Day Celebration parade in the historic district, Saturday, Oct. 13. The Historic Roswell 5K road race was followed by a parade and celebration at Roswell Area Park. Did you attend? The pumpkin is actually not paper mache. It is Closed Cell Spray Foam with a welded Galvanized Steel frame, wrapped in shrink wrap then wrapped in chicken wire and painted with a semi-gloss exterior paint. LexisNexis Hosts its Annual Windward Challenge 5K Charity Run/Walk

The 12th annual charity run benefits KaBOOM!, a non-profit dedicated to saving play for America's children.

Runners have just a few more days to warm up for the annual Windward Challenge 5K Charity Run/Walk, being held in North Fulton on Wednesday, Sept. 19. LexisNexis® Risk Solutions announced the company will host the 12th annual run, with proceeds benefitting KaBOOM!, a national non-profit dedicated to saving play for America’s children. 'Rise 'N Run' Encourages Support for Local Organizations

North Fulton Community Charities and The Cottage School will team up to host a family fun run in September.

North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) and The Cottage School (TCS) are partnering to host the 6th Annual “Rise ‘N Run” 5K/1K race during September. The purpose of the event is to support enrichment programs and other services provided by NFCC and TCS via a family fun style race to take place at Hembree Springs Elementary on Saturday, Sept. 8. "Our enrichment programs empower adults to take control of their future and their circumstances," said Eden Purdy, program director at NFCC. "The life-skill classes we provide range from GED test tutoring, Job and Career Coaching, to ESOL. Hembree Springs Hosts First 5K

Over 450 runners turned out to participate last month.

Hembree Springs Elementary hosted over 450 runners in its first annual Hembree Runs Wild 5k and 1k Race.  The community event surpassed all expectations as students and families came from all over the metro area, including neighboring elementary schools. Participants were treated to goodies supplied by many local businesses who supported the event. A free festival followed in which many of the families participated and had a wonderful time.   "This is the first time my daughter and I have run a 5k together and she says she can’t wait to do it again," said HSES parent Susan Rickson. Hillside 'Husky Dash' To Raise Money for School Technology

In honor of Hillside Elementary School's 10th year, the PTA is holding the "Husky Dash," a 5K Run/Walk. All Hillside families, neighbors and alumni are invited to participate in the event, Saturday March 3, which starts and finishes at Centennial High School, looping around the elementary school. The event schedule is listed below: Proceeds from the family-friendly, health-focused event will go to enhance technology at the school, so the PTA hopes Roswell and Johns Creek community members not only attend, but also invite friends and family. Sam Robb Memorial 5K Benefits Cancer Research

This year's run, in memory of Roswell resident and local high school athlete Sam Robb, will be held in Johns Creek.

The family of former Blessed Trinity athlete continues the fight against cancer, even after his death from osteosarcoma with the 4th Annual "Sam Robb Memorial 5K and Fun Run" to be held in Newtown Park in Johns Creek this Saturday, Feb. 4. The race honors Sam Robb, the son of Sam and Annamarie Robb of Roswell. A stellar Blessed Trinity High School athlete and incredible human being, Sam lost his battle with osteosarcoma at the age of 20 in 2007. Holcomb Bridge to Host First Annual 5K 'Hustle'

The community will come together to promote education and fitness.

The Roswell community will come together for some genuine family fun at the Holcomb Bridge Middle School's first annual Holcomb Bridge Hustle 5K.
