Four Women Injured in Head-on Collision

A head-on crash in south Forsyth County sends three Roswell women to hospitals.

Four women remain hospitalized in stable condition after being injured in a head-on collision Sunday night around 9 on Bethelview Road and Hanover Lane in south Forsyth County, including three women from Roswell. Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said that Jocelyn Afari, 50, of Cumming, was driving a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquise and failed to stop at a stop sign. Tomblin said that Afari was traveling too fast to make the turn off Hanover Lane onto Bethelview Road and instead drove into the southbound lane of Bethelview and slammed head-on into a 2010 Toyota Rav 4. The driver of that vehicle, Yvonne Schumacher, 69, of Roswell and her two passengers were taken to hospitals. Schumacher and Beatriz Ivette Villegas…

Suspect Flees Accident Scene, Caught Behind Dumpster

The following information was supplied by the Roswell Police Department.

Roswell Police arrested Mathew Johnson late last night for hitting two vehicles and fleeing the scene of the accident. Johnson failed to maintain his lane while driving on Holcomb Bridge Road at Ga. 400, late Sunday night, Dec. 9. After striking one vehicle, he attempted to flee the scene, but instead ran into a tractor trailer. Unable to drive his vehicle at that point, Johnson got out of the car and ran down Holcomb Bridge Road. Police later found him hiding behind the dumpster of La Quinta. He was charged with DUI, fail to maintain lane and hit and run.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's Car Runs off Road Onto Greenway

The daughter of Whitney Houston was uninjured when her car went out of control and down an embankment.

A Chevy Camaro apparently driven by Bobbi Kristina Brown went off the roadway on Beaver Creek Road late this morning, traveling down an embankment before coming to a stop within Alpharetta's Big Creek Greenway trail system. Brown was uninjured in the accident, according to George Gordon, Alpharetta Public Safety spokesman. He said the Alpharetta 911 center received a call from a passer-by who said us a black vehicle had left a roadway and went down an embankment. When Alpharetta police officers arrived on the scene, they found Brown standing beside the car, which had moderate damage. Check out TMZ's website for a photo of the car. Roswell Driver Killed in Crash Sunday Night

The passenger is in critical condition.

Roswell resident Samuel Wiggins, 20, was killed in a single-car accident Sunday night when he ran off Riverside Road and hit a tree, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Wiggins' passenger and roommate, Dillon Rigsby, 19, is still in critical condition. Roswell Police Department Spokeswoman Lisa Holland said excessive speed was a factor, but investigators will have to wait on toxicology results to see if any illegal substances were also involved.

Family of Usher's Ex-Stepson Asks for Prayers

Kyle Glover remains in critical condition.

The family of Kyle Glover, the youth who was injured in a collision Friday on Lake Lanier, has asked for prayers for the child, according to CNN.com. "We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," Glover's family said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday. The youth's mother is Tameka Foster Raymond, the ex-wife of entertainment superstar Usher. His father is Ryan Glover, a former executive with Turner Broadcasting and now an executive with Bounce TV, a network that caters to African-Americans.  The Glover family has held vigil at the hospital since Friday. Jet Ski Operator Reportedly ID'ed in Lanier Accident Involving Usher Stepson

Operator was a 'friend of the family,' MTV.com reports. DNR incident report cited.

A "friend of the family" was piloting the personal watercraft that injured the stepson of superstar entertainer Usher last week on Lake Lanier, according to a media report. MTV.com has reported that Jeffrey S. Hubbard was the operator of the personal watercraft that ran into Kyle Glover (aka Kile Glover), 11, and a 15-year-old girl last week on the lake. Glover and the girl were life-flighted to Children's Hospital at Egleston in Atlanta after the accident. According to the Department of Natural Resources incident report cited by MTV.com, Hubbard was operating the watercraft on Lake Lanier when he ran over two juveniles being towed on an inner tube by another boat at approximately 3:25 p.m. ET on Friday. Lanier Crash Victims' Business Sold Boat to Suspect

The boat that was involved in this week's fatal collision on Lake Lanier was purchased from the business owned by the victim's family, according to a media report. Michael Prince Sr., principal owner of The Grass Shack near Lake Lanier, told 11alive.com that he sold Paul J. Bennett the boat involved in Monday night's crash that took the life of Jake Prince, 9. Prince said Bennett was a regular customer, according to the report. Griffin Prince, 13, Jake's brother, still is missing from the crash. Divers resumed their search Wednesday. Bennett, a Cumming resident who owns a hair salon in Johns Creek, faces boating under the influence charges from the crash. Other charges are possible, authorities said.

Names Released of Lanier Boating Collision Victims

 Authorities have released the names of the victims from Monday's fatal boating accident on Lake Lanier, according to media reports. Nine-year-old Jake Prince was killed when a fishing boat crashed into a pontoon boat, and Prince's brother, Griffin Prince, 13, remains missing, WSB-TV website reported. The WSB report also said the children’s father, Michael Prince, was driving the pontoon boat. The Prince family reportedly is from Gwinnett County. Paul Bennett of Cumming has been arrested and released on bond in connection with the crash. He faces boating under the influence charges, and other charges are possible. Is a Redesign of Big Creek Park Needed?

11 Alive News reports the son of injured bicyclist Barbara Nicholas is fighting to have the city redesign Big Creek Park and Greenway.

A local woman's death has one family urging the city of Roswell to redesign Big Creek Park and Greenway, according to 11 Alive News. Barbara Nicholas, 67, died this month of injuries - including paralysis - incurred during a head-on bicycle collision in the fall of 2010 which has been blamed on blind spots along the greenway. Now her son, Steven Nicholas, is urging the city to change the park design so a similar tragedy doesn't befall another family, the television news station reports. Unfortunately even proper signage would probably not prevent a tragedy such as this. The other cyclists were racing, and showing disregard in general. Rules of the trails dictate to "keep right except to pass"; that doesn't mean folks will always follow the rules.   more ›

Roswell Man Critically Injured in Forsyth Wreck

A car crash Wednesday morning in northeast Forsyth County sends two people to the hospital in critical condition.

Two men were hurt Wednesday morning following a car crash on Highway 53 just west of the intersection of Highway 306 (Keith Bridge Road) in northeast Forsyth County. Capt. Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said David P. White, 36, of Roswell was life flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta in critical and "unstable" condition. The driver of the other vehicle, Hong V. Lam, 49 of Gainesville was taken to North Fulton by ambulance in critical condition. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report, the accident happened after White, who was driving a 1995 BMW and traveling westbound on Highway 53, turned right into a driveway.
