Aurora to Celebrate Two Years of Fun in Roswell

The local movie theater and mini-golf course will celebrate it's second anniversary on Sept. 8 with fun for the whole family!

In celebration of Aurora Cineplex and The Fringe Miniature Golf’s second birthday, Area 51 is hosting a carnival and all attractions and food, including movie tickets, mini golf and popcorn are two for the price of one.  The carnival will take place on Sept. 8 from noon to 6 p.m. and, in addition to the two for the price of one deal, the event will feature free games, bouncy houses, face painting, glitter tattoos, a balloon artist and prizes and St. David’s will be making their famous pulled pork sandwiches. “Just two years ago we opened the Aurora Cineplex and The Fringe Miniature Golf with the goal of offering a movie theater and mini golf course with a cozy, safe, neighborhood feel,” said Scott Satori, owner of Area 51. “We are thrilled…

UPDATE: Friday, July 19, 6:31 p.m.: In wake of the shooting at a Colorado movie theater during Thursday's midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises," some law enforcement agencies have stepped up patrols of local theaters, however Roswell Police say they will maintain their current level of security. According to Roswell Police Spokeswoman Lisa Holland, Aurora Cineplex hires the department's off-duty officers for extra security. "Aurora Cineplex is deeply saddened by the events last night in Colorado. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families affected by this senseless tragedy," wrote Aurora General Manager Scott Satori in an e-mail to Patch. Help Local Families By Going to the Movies this Weekend

Aurora Cineplex will donate 10 percent of concession profits over the weekend to the city of Roswell's "Play It Forward" program.

Personal entertainment has never been as altruistic as it will be this weekend when Aurora Cineplex customers help local families in need - just by munching at the movies. The local theater will be donating 10 percent of concession profits to the Friends of Roswell Parks program, "Play It Forward." The program is designed to help families who have found themselves in difficult times financially. "Play It Forward" pays registration fees for a limited time for families who have participated in the past, but cannot afford to continue because of financial issues. The payment is thought of as a loan, which can be repaid when times are better. Though repayment isn't required, the money given back to the program will go to help another family in …

Aurora Gearing Up for Twilight at Midnight

Fans of the series can still get tickets for the 11:59 p.m. showing of Breaking Dawn in Roswell.

If you've been on the fence about staying up late to be among the first to watch Twilight's "Breaking Dawn Part 1" there's still time. Aurora Cineplex at Roswell Town Center is still selling tickets for tonight's 11:59 p.m. show, Thursday, Nov. 17. The theater will begin all the Twilight madness at 9 p.m. with free mini golf, trivia, prize and more for latenight moviegoers. 'Tower Heist' Is a Comical Caper With Occupy Wall Street Undertones
