Brennan Passons Memorial Fund Raises $22K

When the Queen of Angels student died from asthma complications last year, many were inspired to give to her memorial, which helps fund the school's art programs.

The young girl whose untimely death has inspired so many would be proud - Brennan Passons Memorial Fund for the Arts raised $22,228 in its first year, 2011-2012. "Brennan touched so many in so many ways and gave unselfishly in any way possible," Sarah Passons, Brennan's mother, told Roswell Patch in an e-mail. "We are so proud of her and so grateful for everyone that gave so much of their time, money and love to her memory." The memorial fund was begun as a way to pay tribute to Brennan, who died from asthma complications in October 2011. The fund money goes toward several arts programs at Brennan's school, Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell. Remembering Brennan: Roswell Family Promotes Asthma Awareness After Death of Young Child

Tim and Sarah Passons hope to raise awareness about asthma after the sudden death of their 11-year-old last October.

Brennan Passons was the type of girl to enter a room of people she had never met, and make friends instantly. The bubbly 11-year-old had a certain charm and positivity about her that resonated with people. "She never met a stranger," said her father, Tim Passons. "Regardless of who a person was, or what they looked like, she always found a way to make them comfortable. She was that kid." Brennan, a sixth grade student at Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, was a normal child in most ways, with one exception: she had asthma. Truly sorry to hear such a sad story and about the loss of a young life so soon. I want you to know that asthma IS curable. I've cured mine from when I was a child and there's no reason any child or family in the future should have to suffer anymore.
