Georgia Bulldogs vs. Tennessee Vols: Real Challenge or Another Romp?

The Volunteers are a 14-point underdog heading into Athens Saturday, Sept. 29.

"Perhaps no SEC program has blindsided Mark Richt's Georgia teams more viciously than Tennessee," David Ching writes for ESPN.com's DawgNation blog. Which is why the No. 5 Bulldogs won't be overlooking the visiting Volunteers this weekend, though the 3-1 Vols are a 14-point underdog. Ching's preview dredges up painful 2004 and 2007 defeats in which Tennessee helped deprive Georgia of SEC championships. 2009 wasn't so great, either. "If series history has proven anything, it's that Tennessee -- even when a decided underdog -- has a habit of delivering unsettling losses to unfocused Georgia teams," Ching writes. Threat or no, third-year Tennessee coach Derek Dooley finds himself under a lot of scrutiny in Knoxville. Dooley, 14-15 overall, …

Georgia vs. Missouri Football Preview: Dawgs Enter Unfamiliar Territory

Here's what they're saying about the Bulldogs and Tigers in Missouri's SEC debut.

How do we know Georgia Bulldogs football is special? Because Delta Air Lines is changing its flight schedule just to make sure UGA fans get to Columbia, Missouri, in time for the Tigers' inaugural SEC game. It will be a learning process. Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph reports the two teams are virtual strangers. Neither squad even has a scholarship player from the other's state. Georgia head coach Mark Richt did interview for the Missouri job more than a decade ago, but the teams' only previous matchup was in 1960. At least one Missouri player isn't that impressed with what he's seen of Georgia so far. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson told a reporter he watched some of the Georgia-Buffalo game last week, then turned it off. "It's …

What Are Your Favorite Memories of Larry Munson?

The legendary voice of Georgia football died Sunday night at his home in Athens at the age of 89.

Larry Munson, whose legendary calls of University of Georgia football success echoed in the ears of the Bulldog Nation for four decades, died Sunday night in Athens. Munson, 89, died at his home with complications from pneumonia, his son Michael told the University of Georgia athletics website. Funeral arrangements for Munson had not been determined as of Sunday night. The beloved broadcaster was the “Voice of the Bulldogs” from 1966 to 2008, during which his passion for the Red-and-Black created some of the more memorable radio calls in college football history. Some of the most memorable: “Run Lindsay … Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott” (1980 vs. Florida); “Again you guys, hunker down!” and  “Look at the sugar falling out of …

Bulldogs Roundup: What They're Saying About UGA Football vs. Auburn

Georgia hosts the Tigers Saturday in another major matchup.

Who would have thought, after the Georgia Bulldogs' 0-2 start, that they'd head into Saturday's game ranked higher than Auburn and on track to play for the SEC championship for the first time since 2005? Can the Bulldogs win eight in a row? Will they avenge last year's loss to the Tigers? Here's what they're saying: What's your prediction for the game? Tell us in the comments.

Bulldogs Roundup: What They're Saying About UGA vs. Coastal Carolina Football

0-2 Bulldogs are heavy favorites over this week's visitors.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt got votes of confidence this week from former coach Vince Dooley and this week's opponent, Coastal Carolina Coach David Bennet, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. From UGA President Michael Adams, Richt got, at the very least, a reprieve. “I don’t believe I have ever commented on any coach mid-season,” the AJC quotes Adams saying. “What we do with every head coach, at the end of the season the AD sits down and makes a judgment. Then he makes a judgment whether or not he needs to talk to the president about that." Here's some other reporting and commentary ahead of Saturday's game:
