Roswell Church, North Fulton Chamber Partner to Put Job Seekers to Work

'Mini' Job Fair on Monday, Dec. 10 is the first event in which the Roswell United Methodist Church Job Networking Program and the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce are partnered.

A grassroots, volunteer job networking program at Roswell United Methodist Church is forming an alliance with a group of businesses to lower unemployment and help North Fulton job seekers find work. The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the nationally-acclaimed Roswell United Methodist Church (RUMC) Job Networking Program, said chamber CEO Brandon Beach. In forming this strategic alliance, the chamber will work with the RUMC in its mission to lower unemployment and match job seekers to openings in North Fulton. The RUMC Job Networking Program – a grassroots, volunteer-led program – has a long history of success. RUMC Job Networking and its stellar lineup of sponsors, including Roswell Rotary, have been providing …

Rain Moves North Fulton Chamber's Golf Tourney to November

Country Club of the South will host the annual Golf Classic, and now new businesses can become weather-related sponsors.

Monday's Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic was rained out, but golfers don't have to miss out on this chance to hit the links. The chamber has rescheduled the tournament to Monday, Nov. 19 at Country Club of the South in Johns Creek. The later date has opened up some additional sponsorship opportunities that just didn't make sense this week. All of the original sponsorships were sold out, but in mid-November these sponsorships could be very popular: Presented by Northside Hospital, the annual GNFCC Golf Classic is the chamber's largest fundraising event. The chamber thanked its sponsors and golfers who showed up Monday in spite of the rain and foul weather, and who have already committed to playing in November.     If …

Wireless Exec Hands Out Phones, Sponsor Cash During Chamber Breakfast

Smartphones from Verizon, cash and $300 donations to charity highlight Eggs & Enterprise breakfast meeting.

Everyone who attended the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast walked away with at least $1, and three lucky people walked out with brand new 4G phones. Frazier & Deeter sponsored the June chamber breakfast meeting for the third year in a row, and Roger Lusby, managing partner for the firm's Alpharetta office, promised to do it again next year. Every person attending the breakfast got an envelope that contained at least a $1 bill from the firm. Five people, however, got $2 bills. That ended up benefitting their favorite charities by $300 each from Frazier & Deeter also. Jeff Mango, president of the Georgia-Alabama region for Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, might have started out his talk to the business …

More Groceries Needed in Alpharetta for Food Drive

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce will collect food until 3 p.m. for North Fulton Community Charities.

North Fulton residents have been stopping by First Citizens Bank on Haynes Bridge Road to drop off food in the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Summer Food Drive, but organizers say there's still more need. Summer donations are low because so many people are on vacation, according to Kendra Plotkin of the chamber, who organized the food drive. The lack of subsidized lunches over the summer because school is out of session makes the need great for the area's children in poorer homes.. To make sure the most need is met, the chamber and North Fulton Community Charities, the beneficiary of the food drive, identified the top six most immediate needs: That might get you hungry, but not to worry. Charlie Feehan has his Shane's Rib Shack …

Chamber Expects Business Expo to Draw 1,200 Attendees

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce offers free entry for registration by March 2.

What will draw more than 1,200 business people to one spot in Alpharetta on Friday, March 4? It's the 2011 Business Expo, hosted by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce. This year the six cities of North Fulton–Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs–are the title sponsors, along with Progress Partners. "We look at this as being another banner year," Beach said. "The thing that really excites me about this year also, is that we are unveiling our Progress Partners initiative. All six cities are coming together as sponsors. "It's great that they are coming together for economic development," he said. "Progress Partners is a clearinghouse for the six cities," said the chamber's Kendra Plotkin, who is …
