Harry's Part of Updated Whole Foods Cheese Recall

Forever Cheese recalled this cheese product because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Whole Foods Market announces that it is recalling ricotta salata sold in 21 states and Washington, D.C., including Harry's Farmers Market. The cheese came from its supplier Forever Cheese Inc. of Long Island City, NY.  Forever Cheese recalled this cheese product because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Cheese Recall at Sandy Springs, Alpharetta Farmers Markets

Norcross-based AtlantaFresh Artisan Creamery issued the recall on mozzarella sold last week at five farmer’s markets.

The Sandy Springs Farmers Market is looking into a recall on mozzarella cheese, according to its Tuesday night Facebook post. In an earlier Facebook post, Norcross-based AtlantaFresh Artisan Creamery issued the recall on mozzarella sold last week at five farmer’s markets. The cheese packages read “best by date 7/16.” In addition to Sandy Springs, the Creamery said cheese was sold at Alpharetta Farmers Market, Marietta Square, Peachtree Road Farmers Market and Piedmont Park farmers market. A second post by the Creamery said, “With 1 degree of pasteurization off, we feel fairly certain it is all good, but to be safe, please bring your cheese back to any farmers market this week for a refund or trade for a new cheese and a yogurt on the house…
