Storms, Cooler Temperatures Return This Week To Roswell

Roswell will see strong, possibly severe thunderstorms today and will last into tonight.

Don't get too comfortable with the sunny skies and warm temperatures that graced Roswell with their presence over the weekend.   Local residents will see another batch of storms and cooler temperatures throughout the week.  The storms, some of which could turn severe, will move into the area mid-morning on Monday and will stick around into Monday night. "Low pressure is expected to develop over western Tennessee and Kentucky later this morning as a cold front develops over the southern plains and lower gulf coast," according to a statement issued by the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook. "Ahead of this front, an area of showers and embedded thunderstorms will move across Alabama and into west Georgia later this morning. …

Rain, Warmer Temperatures In Store This Week for Roswell

After a chilly weekend, Roswell will soon see rain and warmer temperatures.

Roswell residents will soon see rain — and mild temperatures — return this week. After a cold weekend, a chance of rain will linger tonight and into Tuesday night. However, sunny skies will return on Wednesday and a warm-up will move into the city on Thursday, and will remain in the area through Sunday. "A low pressure system will impact north and central Georgia Monday night into Wednesday," according to the National Weather Service's hazardous weather outlook. "Minimal instability Tuesday will allow for a slight chance of thunderstorms ahead of the associated cold front." Rain Will Give Way to Gusting Wind, Creating Driving Hazards

A wind advisory has been forecast for tonight and Friday, with gusts as high as 40 mph possible.

As the pouring rain this morning showed us it's a wet day and expect it to stay that way. The National Weather Service forecast for Roswell put the chance for rain at 100 percent this afternoon, dropping to 30 percent tonight. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch are possible. It will get pretty cool tonight, with a low around 29. Rain won't be a problem, but wind will. Strong gusts that will make driving hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles. A strong cold front was racing through the region this morning and afternoon. Fulton County: 'Stay Warm, Safely'

As temperatures drop, here are some tips to stay safe when trying to stay warm this winter.

The Fulton County Fire and Rescue Department is urging residents to take safety precautions when heating their home. There are important factors to consider whether you are heating your home with a fireplace, a space heater or a wood stove. Residents are encouraged to test their smoke detectors monthly and change the batteries every six months.

Roswell Residents Feel the Chill Today

Brrr! It's freezing outside, literally. And it will be for most of the day. At 7:45 it was only 18 degrees outside! And the wind? That's making it feel like 7 degrees. The high today won't go much above freezing, reaching 33 degrees according to WeatherBug. And the 11 mph wind out of the northwest will make it feel like 23 degrees. There's even a slight chance for flurries early. Weather forecasters (and Mom) say you should wear gloves and a hat today. Don't forget a shirt or blouse, pants, shoes, socks and even a jacket, too.
