Roswell’s Riverside Sounds concert series kicks off this weekend, Saturday, May 4. The free monthly outdoor concerts are held at Roswell's Riverside Park, 575 Riverside Road. Guests are invited to bring blankets and coolers to the concerts, May through October, from 7 to 9 p.m. This year, a shuttle will transport attendees to the park from the Ace Sand lot on Riverside Drive. And, also new this year, the city will host food trucks at each concert, provided through Fork In The Road. "This is another very interesting and diverse line-up of artists this year," said Lee J. Seventeen concerts are scheduled so far at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, with everything from Tony Bennett to Widespread Panic having set dates. The first concert scheduled so far is a two-date bill by Widespread Panic on April 26 & 27. Styx returns again this year with REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent. On April 26 tickets go on sale for Keith Urban's July 27 visit to Alpharetta. Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch join him as opening acts. A day later, tickets for Steely Dan's Sept. 7 concert will go on sale. Steely Dan is one of four new concerts scheduled recently. Six String Social Club will bring nearly a dozen famed guitarists to Roswell during its 2013 concert series.
An outstanding line up of guitarists is scheduled to visit Roswell for The Six String Social Club's 2013 concert season. This year's line up will appeal to a broad audience and includes GRAMMY® Award winners Ed Gerhard and Laurence Juber, jazz legends Frank Vignola and Howard Alden and folk duo Al Petteway and Amy White. Roswell’s Riverside Sounds concert series will kick off on Saturday, May 5 with "Little Tybee," an orchestral pop band. The band's Glen "The Kid" Marhevka describes what an evening with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will be like.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brings the swing to North Fulton when the band performs with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. Glen "The Kid" Marhevka, one of two trumpeters with the band took some time this week to talk about the band and its performances. "The basic style of it is swing music, but we don't do traditional big band music," Marhevka said. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a smaller band with five horns, a piano, a bass and drums that does mostly original music. "It's a very high energy band and it's just super fun," he said. The band's Chris Walla has characterized its sixth studio album, Narrow Stairs, as "having teeth." Band promoters say the album doesn't try to recreaate the success of hit songs such as "Soul Meets Body" or 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark," but has instead crafted an ambitious and varied album that refuses to pander.
