Keeping Cool and Saving Money When It's Hot

Here are some money saving tips for keeping cool as the temperature rises.

Temperatures are expected to be around 94 degrees through tonight with heat index levels possibly topping 100, according to the National Weather Service.  So to keep cool while keeping the bank account in check, consider these energy saving tips to keep your electricity costs down and the temperature cool in your home. According to Georgia Power, which services parts of Roswell, one of the biggest energy consumer on most electricity bills is the air conditioner. "It represents about 50 percent of a customers bill during the summer months," said Lynn Wallace, spokesperson with Georgia Power. Local School Participates in Earth Hour

Roswell's Goddard School location will celebrate Earth Hour a little early this morning at 10 a.m.

The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, which is why it’s crucial to teach them the importance of protecting our environmental resources now. And The Goddard School in Roswell will do just that today as a prequel to the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour. Even though Earth Hour – when the whole world is asked to turn off their lights for one hour - isn’t technically until tomorrow, Mar. 26 at 8:30 p.m., Roswell’s Goddard School will participate a little early.
