The Abernathy Road northbound ramp to GA 400 will close for overnight paving beginning tonight (Friday), the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced in a press release. Crews will close the ramp from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. During the closure traffic will be directed to use Hammond Drive to reach GA 400 north. In an effort to improve merging onto GA 400 north, the ramp will be widened to two lanes and extended. The contract for this work also includes a project underway in Forsyth County, where crews are extending the third lane northbound from its current end north of McGinnis Ferry Road to the Big Creek Greenway Bridge. Suspension of tolls is possible during construction, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution article.
There's a chance tolls on Ga. 400 will soon be suspended - at least for a little while. The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) will be making technology upgrades to the "cruise” lanes at the Ga. 400 toll plaza over the weekend of Friday, June 24 through Monday, June 27. The work could potentially impact tolls, according to an article by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Though originally set to end on July 1 of this year, the tolls were continued by a vote by the state legislature last fall. Now the state authority will be making improvements to the 20-year-old toll plaza near the perimeter. Upgrades will include the installation of new multi-protocol transponder readers in the cruise lanes and equipment upgrades in the cash lanes, …
