It’s pretty clear that America loves the holidays. According to independent market research, more than $80 billion is spent annually on food during holidays. That represents about 15 percent of total supermarket food sales in the U.S. Recognizing the enormity of the holidays to peoples’ personal lives and the U.S. economy, Taste of Home has begun a nationwide search to identify candidates for the position of "Mrs. Holiday." The title will include a spokesperson role with Taste of Home magazine and a $50,000 payment. “Mrs. Holiday will be a new type of pageant queen,” said Taste of Home editor-in-chief Catherine Cassidy. “She’s an advocate, an ambassador and an inspiration who cooks for her family to bring everyone around the table at the …

Visit CleanAirCampaign.org to learn about entry requirements and additional contest details. --- Have an antique you think might be worth something? Now is the time to make your reservation with appraiser Richard Williams before the …

The Guziel family, who won second place in the Mayfield Ice Cream Below Zero Hero contest over the summer, donated part of their winnings to North Fulton Community Charities last Saturday.
A sizeable donation to North Fulton Community Charities by Roswell's young Guziel sisters turned a second place win in the national Mayfield Ice Cream Company's "Below Zero Hero" milkshake invention contest into something even more wonderful than the sweet treat they created. Over the summer, Maggie Guziel, 10, and Kelsey Guziel, 9, transformed an old-fashion cookie into the just-as-tasty Whoopee Shake. The milkshake was a hit with Mayfield judges, who placed it among the top 10 recipes for voters to choose as their favorite. In the end the Guziel family's Whoopee Shake recipe came in second out of the thousands of recipes submitted, netting them $3,000 in prize money. "We feel very blessed to have had so much support from our family, …

The city wants to get your children involved in what they would like to see for Roswell over the next 20 years.
Imagination is practically a kid's job and now the city of Roswell has a way for you to put your child's most fantastical ideas to good use. As part of its "Imagine Roswell 2030" comprehensive plan process Roswell is holding a contest for kids. The contest asks Roswell's youth - between the first and 12th grades - to imagine what their city will look like and be in the year 2030. "The children are the future of Roswell," said Jackie Deibel, with the city's Community Development Department. "The plan we are working on now will help to shape their community in 2030." "The more participation we have, the more understanding we'll have about all the different parts of this city," Dave Schmit, chairman of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan Advisory …
