The 12th Annual Historic Roswell Criterium returns on Sunday, April 28 with an expanded race course in the heart of historic Roswell, according to information provided by organizers. The schedule of events includes: The Historic Roswell Criterium, which began in 2002, has established itself as the largest pro/am criterium in the Southeast and second largest single-day race in the United States. A recent story in Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch highlighted the problem with cycling safety on local streets. It noted that cyclist Dave Mathews, injured in a bad bike wreck 18 months ago, has made cycling safety an issue. His passion on the subject was fueled after a pickup struck and killed cyclist Paul Taylor and authorities announced last week nobody will be prosecuted. The reason the authorities gave was that they don't have the evidence to make a case. "We're human beings, too," said Mathews, who started a Facebook page about bike safety in Atlanta. The Roswell Cultural Arts Board wants to know, which "Moving Parts of the Arts" bicycle art is your favorite? The People's Choice vote is now open to the public until April 27 at 1 p.m. Eight dynamic artists created inspiring and unique pieces comprised of donated bicycles and bicycle parts from Roswell Bicycles in celebration of the upcoming Roswell Criterium. Artists transformed the bikes into creative ‘masterpieces’ and have displayed them at the corner of Woodstock Road and Canton Street.
