Have room for an 8 pound puppy?
Although precious little Amanda, a Beagle/Italian Greyhound mix, is only 9 months old and weighs a mere 8 pounds, she has been through quite a bit in her short little life. Amanda was a stray who ended up in a rural shelter in Georgia, but her luck changed when Angels Among Us spotted her and knew this girl needed a home. Right after she was saved from the shelter, this precious little girl broke out with the deadly Parvo virus. She became extremely ill and almost lost her life, but Amanda is a fighter and she was determined to pull through and live. Liz is an eager to please, mellow dog who will not require lots of activity and would do fine in a home that lives life …

Atlanta Humane Society plans open house for Saturday, Dec. 3, at its Mansell Road campus in Alpharetta.
The Mansell Campus of the Atlanta Humane Society holds a grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., a chance for the public to check out the facility up close as the ribbon is cut for the animal shelter. More than 300 dogs and cats were arriving at the campus to await adoption. This is the first operational expansion for the Humane Society in its 138-year history. The 32,000-square-foot building no longer resembles a car dealership, which is what the building once housed. Features of what Deborah Ann Smith, director of community relations, called a state-of-the-art facility include: The shelter is at 1565 Mansell Rd, Alpharetta. Call the Atlanta Humane Society at 404-875-5331.
