Nature's Variety recently announced a voluntary recall of Instinct® Raw Organic Chicken Formula with a "Best if Used By" date of 10/04/13. This action is being taken because pieces of clear plastic may be found in some bags and could cause a potential choking risk to pets. The source of plastic has been identified and the issue has been resolved. Nature's Variety is sold at several pet stores in Roswell, including Petco, Red Bandanna Pet Food and Top Dogs Pet Boutique. Breeder’s Choice Pet Food is recalling a single manufacturing batch of Breeder's Choice AvoDerm Natural Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Adult Dog Formula due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The product affected by this recall is identified below and has the following "Best Before" dates: Product and product lots that do not appear on the list above are not subject to this recall. Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is a risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of a limited range of three varieties of PEDIGREE® weight management canned dog food products, Monday, July 2, due to a potential choking risk. Affected product may contain small pieces of blue plastic, which entered the food during the production process. The source of the plastic has been identified and the issue resolved. We encourage consumers who have purchased affected product to discard the food or return it to the retailer for a full refund or exchange. While a small number of consumers have reported finding the plastic pieces, we have not received any reports of injury or illness associated with the affected product. The manufacturer recalled nine different brands of its dry dog food, including Kirkland Signature Foods.
Diamond Pet Foods recently expanded a voluntary recall to include batches of nine brands of dry pet food formulas manufactured between Dec. 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella contamination. In April 2012, Diamond Pet Foods initiated three voluntary recalls of Diamond manufactured dry dog food. Although none of the additional products being recalled have tested positive for Salmonella, the company is pulling them from store shelves as a precaution.
