Strap on your pedometer, grease up your baby stoller, and hit the road for a workout that will take your breath away!
As the deputy editor of FITNESS Magazine, Mary Anderson has her finger on the pulse of the latest workout trends. But what she really craves is running outdoors. “It’s just not the same on a treadmill—I get inspired by the outdoors, whereas I cover the treadmill’s digital readout with my towel!” And with good reason: Fitness experts widely agree that seeing greenery while working out reduces stress and can improve performance. Yet only 22 percent of women exercise outside of the gym, according to a recent Women’s Health survey. With some creative planning, you can skip the gym—including the monthly payments and the wait lists for hot yoga—and hit the road (or laundry room) for some serious conditioning. Here are some ways to get fit …

Not just for masochists, boot camp workouts have legions of devotees. Find out what you might gain from trying one out in Roswell.
Having the best of intentions has never been equated with having the best of bodies—or even less flabby ones. So many of us have unused or infrequently used gym memberships, and even for those of us who do make it to the gym, we often lose a mental struggle with ourselves to stay on the treadmill for a full workout or complete that last set of reps. So what’s a person to do who wants to get in better shape but needs more motivation to do it? Well, that’s where boot camp comes in. Originating on the West Coast around 15 years ago, boot camp workouts have recently made their way to the East Coast and around the globe. While they may have originally appealed to athletes and hard-core fitness enthusiasts, there are now boot camps for people of…

According to Google, "krav maga atlanta" is up several thousand percent as a search term over the past five years.
In the middle of a national health crisis, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have said that more than one-third of U.S. adults are obese, many people are seeking to make lifestyle changes - for an increasing number of people, one of those changes involves an Isreali self-defense method called Krav Maga. Most likely because of its origins as a combat technique for Isreal's military, Krav Maga - meaning Krav/"battle" Maga/"contact" - was simply viewed as another martial arts style of self defense for a long time. It wasn't until recent years that many people began to gravitate toward the method as a fantastic way to get fit, as well. Eric Sepeda can't blame them. "I took my first Krav Maga class in 2002 and have been …

Achieve your fitness goals in 10-minute increments.
We’re a scant three weeks into the new year and several of my friends have already given up on their New Year’s resolutions to get more exercise. As my best friend said, “I already wake up early to get the kids off to school and I’m too exhausted in the evenings to head to the gym after feeding the kids, taking care of homework, and spending a full day at work. I just don’t have the time to exercise regularly.” She’s not alone in feeling that way. When I discussed this issue with Carma Haley Shoemaker, author, licensed weight loss consultant, and LPN, she said, “I hear this from weight loss clients all the time. People often have blinders on in regards to exercise; they believe it only counts if they are taking a certain amount of …

The right attitude is key to meeting your fitness and weight loss goals
Most WWE wresting fans are very familiar with John Cena's signature move, the "Attitude Adjustment." This is his killer move, the one he uses as the ultimate take-down. When you see Cena setting up the "Attitude Adjustment" you know that his opponent is done for and the match is practically finished. If you want to succeed in reaching your weight or fitness goals this year, you need to add the "Attitude Adjustment" to your arsenal of fitness and diet strategies. No, I don't mean you need to learn how to execute Cena's infamous move (although I'll be completely impressed and give you BIG kudos if you manage it!). I simply mean, you need to adopt the correct attitude if you really want to succeed. Clues that you need an attitude …
