Habitat for Humanity dedicates three more homes.
Roswell Rotarians, church members and high school students helped build two of the three Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia homes at the Villages of Park Creek neighborhood. This past weekend the three families got help from those same volunteers in a dedication ceremony for their homes. Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia recently held a Dedication Ceremony for three families at the Villages of Park Creek neighborhood in Woodstock on the border of Cherokee County and Fulton County. Two properties were recently donated to Habitat by Bank of America.
Bank of America has donated two properties to Roswell-based Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia in support of the affiliate’s efforts to build affordable housing in partnership with low-income families in North Fulton, Forsyth and Cherokee County. The donations are part of a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity International through which the bank will donate up to 2,000 vacant properties for renovation or reconstruction over the next three years. Bob Lehrer was honored at the Community Honors Dinner.
The Atlanta Falcons named Bob Lehrer the 2012 Community Quarterback MVP at the third annual Community Honors Dinner at Ray’s on the River. For this honor, a $4,000 grant from NFL Charities will be provided to Habitat of for Humanity-North Central Georgia. Lehrer began volunteering with Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia in 2005 and currently volunteers weekly as a house leader. As a house leader, he works year round in all types of weather conditions and manages countless volunteers on a weekly basis to teach them construction skills and provide supervision to complete homes on schedule. Just this year, Lehrer has worked in three counties to construct 17 houses to provide 68 family members with a safe and stable home. He also …
The supermarket giant made a recent donation to the local Habitat for Humanity branch.
Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia received a check from Publix Super Markets Charities in the amount of $50,000. The funds were awarded in the form of a grant to be used towards building a Habitat home. Publix Super Markets Charities has been a supporter of Habitat North Central Georgia for many years. Recently the Roswell Rotary Club was presented an official “Hammer Plaque” by Russ Hayes, CEO of Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia. The plaque was presented in recognition of the Rotary Club's participation and support of a recent Habitat home for the Phares family. The home was built as part of a combined effort with five local Rotary Clubs and ten local high schools. The Roswell Rotary Club partnered with Roswell High School to help build the home through Habitat, a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent homes for purchase by low income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership.

North Fulton's FishNet Security donates funds, volunteer hours to help a family of four build their Habitat for Humanity home.
FishNet Security's Alpharetta office has partnered with Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia, based in Roswell, to help build a home for the Phares family of North Fulton. FishNet Security donated $3,000 towards the build and sent 15 employees last Friday, April 20 to help with the construction of the home in Park Creek subdivision across the county line from Milton in Cherokee County. The home is due to be completed on May 19. The FishNet Security employees performed the last of the interior work and enjoyed a full day of painting. This is the third year that FishNet Security, formerly Logic Trends, has partnered with Habitat to help build a home for a deserving family. Frank Romeo, vice president of the UPS Foundation, presented Russ Hayes, CEO of Habitat for Humanity–North Central Georgia, with an $80,000 check to help build a Habitat home. The UPS/Habitat home will be located in the Villages of Park Creek neighborhood, located on the border of North Fulton and Cherokee County. Construction will start in June and UPS employees will provide all of the volunteer labor to build the home. Local residents can find out whether they meet Habitat for Humanity homeownership eligibility requirements.
The city of Roswell has partnered with an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity of North Central Georgia called North Georgia Community Housing Development Corporation to acquire approximately six homes for rehabilitation and resale to Habitat families.
