Whole Foods Market Recalls Cookies Sold in its Bakery

Two kinds of wedding cookies were recalled because they contained undeclared nuts.

Did you buy any wedding or almondine wedding cookies in the bakery section of Harry's Farmers Market or Whole Foods Markets recently? The grocer is recalling these bulk cookie items because they contain almonds and pecans, two undeclared allergens. These products were sold loose as Cookies-by-the-Pound, a self-service section in the Bakery area of the store. The two products are Consumers with almond or pecan allergies who have purchased these cookies from the Cookies-by-the-Pound section are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Forever Cheese recalled this cheese product because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Whole Foods Market announces that it is recalling ricotta salata sold in 21 states and Washington, D.C., including Harry's Farmers Market. The cheese came from its supplier Forever Cheese Inc. of Long Island City, NY.  Forever Cheese recalled this cheese product because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Viewfinder: Customers Turn Out to Harry's Food Truck 'Rodeo'

Harry's Farmers Market held its first food truck event at the store, Saturday, March 17.

Customers who may have only planned to run into Harry's Farmers Market for some organic meat or wine, ended up grabbing lunch at the food truck in front of the store Saturday, March 17. Because of the event's success, the store has decided to bring the food truck back, although exact dates and times have not yet been established.

Harry's Farmers Market Hosts Food Truck 'Rodeo' on Saturday

To celebrate a major milestone for animal welfare and continuing its mission to sell the best products, Harry’s Farmers Market will host a food truck "rodeo" on Saturday, March 17. The event will celebrate Whole Foods vendor, Thompson Farms, of Dixie, Ga., for its passing a final independent audit to certify its farm and facilities at the highest level of the 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards. It becomes the first producer in the entire company to achieve the 5-Plus rating. Thompson Farms, a vendor at Whole Foods Market for three years, was formerly a Step 4 hog farm. Harry's Farmers Market Names Best Local Love Stories

Dana Harris Carter wins first place in the contest.

Three local couples are enjoying an extra special Valentine's Day looking back over their love story, especially since sharing their tales won them top honors in Harry's Farmer Market recent contest. Dana Harris Carter enjoyed the title of having the best love story, which won her gift basket that included a special dinner and $100 gift card, among other things. "What a great lesson that we can be our own worst enemy and think we know what we need," said Harry's Marketing Team Leader, Jennifer Smeth. Burger King Goes BOGO, Harry's Offers Discount

Yes, you can "have it your way," as chain offers "buy one, get one free" and local grocery store gives 10 percent off this weekend.

It seems that fast-food franchises are engaging in a price war that renders their own value menus obsolete. Burger King, which has outlets in Roswell, entered the fray Friday with a buy one, get one free deal on the Whopper, according to its Web site and Facebook page. The offer runs Friday through Sunday, Dec. 9-11. Subway was the most recent company to offer a special deal, touting $2 subs during December. Burger King's three outlets in Roswell are located at 860 Woodstock Road, 1425 Market Boulevard and 11570 Alpharetta Highway.
