'Bring One For The Chipper' Returns Jan. 5

The event is organized locally by Keep Roswell Beautiful.

Updated, Thursday, Jan. 3, 3:03 p.m. - Roswell residents are invited to participate in the 23rd annual Bring One For The Chipper Christmas tree recycling event on Jan. 5. Organized by Keep Georgia Beautiful, this statewide initiative reuses trees by chipping them into mulch that is then used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards. This year’s two drop-off locations are The Home Depot on Holcomb Bridge Road in the Holcomb Woods Shopping Center and The Home Depot on Woodstock Road across from Publix. Locations will accept trees from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents are asked to please not drop off trees prior to January 5. Lights Out: Classes on Incandescent Phase-Out

Home Depot offering Saturday workshops on incandescent bulb phase-out.

In 2012, there will be a multi-year phase-out of incandescent light bulbs as part of the nation’s move toward cleaner energy. The Home Depot will host a series of how-to workshops at 10 a.m. every Saturday in January to educate customers about the phase-out and various light bulb options as well as provide handy tips for installing specialty light bulbs, fixtures and dimmer switches. In addition, lighting department associates in all stores have been trained to answer customers’ questions about the phase-out and can help identify the light bulbs that best suit their needs.

Home Depot Offers Trade-In Discount on Christmas Lights

The home improvement giant will reduce the price of its new LED lights sets when customers bring in old sets between Nov. 3-13.

Now that Halloween is behind us, it's time to start thinking of the holidays ahead and all the festive decor that goes with them. To help, Home Depot is holding its fourth annual "Eco-Options Christmas Light Trade-In" program, saving customers money every time they trade out old lights for new.
