Playful, Loving Young Cat Needs Family

Abner is our Rescue Pet of the Week from Angels Among Us.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is looking for a new home for Abner, a sweet 10-12-month-old short-haired black kitty. According to Abner's foster mom, this is the most affectionate kitty ever. He was found on a neighbor's back porch on one of the coldest winter nights in December. Although Abner was scared, he ran into her arms as soon as he realized she wanted to help. It was later determined that he was abandoned by his owner who had moved away. Poor Abner was in a half-starvation state and in need of medical care. It took him a while to recover from several months of deprivation, but he is doing great now. Abner is quite the teenager with his antics. He is very lively and adventurous, and likes to climb, jump run, and talk to people. He …

Kittens Need a Home for the New Year

Could you use a new member of the family?

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue has a number of sweet kittens that are still hoping to be in their forever home before the end of the holiday season. These kittens include Annie and Amelia (shown here), who have just become available. (They were spayed earlier this week.) They are darling little sisters who were being turned in at a high-kill shelter when rescued by Angels, along with a brother (Aaron) and a foster sister (Alpha), who are also available. All of the kittens are absolutely adorable, and are really the total package. They are playful and affectionate, and are sure to be a wonderful addition to any household.    An Angels representative is available to bring these kittens to a pre-approved adopter's home for a meet-and-greet and …

Kitten Adoption Extravaganza This Weekend

Puppies, dogs from Angels Among Us will also be available.

Kittens, kittens and more kittens. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue’s cat program volunteers say that the number of kittens needing homes after the spring birthing time has skyrocketed this year, and many of them can be seen at the group’s Kitten Adoption Extravaganza at PETCO in Johns Creek this weekend.   “One unspayed female cat can have several litters in the same year,” said Deborah Smith, who coordinates the Angels cat adoption efforts. Although rescue groups always see a jump in kitten births in both the spring and the fall, Smith said this year has seen a particularly high volume of kittens needing homes. “The county shelters are full of kittens that desperately need rescuing, as well as large numbers of adult cats.
