Sen. John Albers to Hold Town Hall Meeting in Nearby Sandy Springs

The meeting will be this weekend.

State Sen. John Albers will hold a town hall meeting in Sandy Springs on Saturday to discuss priorities set for the 2013 Legislative Session. Fulton Opposes Attempt to Freeze or Lower Property Taxes

Commissioner Liz Hausmann said she was in favor of legislation by Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek lawmakers that also would redraw commission district lines that would add another North Fulton member.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday to oppose temporarily capping the county's property tax millage rate, doubling the homestead exemption rate and giving North Fulton more representation on the commisson. Liz Hausmann is the only commissioner who solely represents North Fulton. Commissioner Tom Lowe's district extends from Roswell south until it's well inside the perimeter. Hausmann, the District 3 commissioner, voted against the resolution. "I am in favor of the proposed new commission districts as it brings additional representation to North Fulton that is long overdue, and complies with the important concept of one man one vote," said Hausmann, the District 3 Commissioner. There's certainly a lot of improvement that is needed, but generalizations about "special interests" and a dysfunctional Atlanta government which has nothing at all to do with Fulton County government don't help the situation. Georgia Senate Passes Bill Requiring Mandatory Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse

Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, who represents Roswell, parts of Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek, offers his legislative address on the current legislative session for weedks nine and 10. An excerpt: "The Georgia Senate passed several key pieces of legislation in the final days of the session to increase economic development for Georgia and fulfill the Senate Majority Caucus priorities. "[Among the bill passed by] the Senate last week included my bill, Senate Bill 292, which ensures accountability and responsibility for welfare recipients. Sen. Albers Supports State Charter School Amendment

In his weekly legislative address, the Republican from Roswell said the resolution has passed the House and now the Senate Education and Youth Committee.

Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, who represents Roswell, parts of Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek, offers his legislative address on week seven of the current session. He said the Senate passed a bill last week that extends the statute of limitations on crimes of a sexual nature against children. The Senate Education and Youth Committee approved HR 1162, which sends the state charter school issue to the voters as an amendment to the state Constitution, something the Roswell Senator backs. Albers to Hold Town Hall Meeting

Mountain Park will host State Senator John Albers town hall meeting, Saturday, Mar. 26.

If you've had burning questions about this current legislative session, now is your chance to get them answered. As a way of staying in touch with his constituents, Roswell's State Senator John Albers will host a town hall meeting in Mountain Park this Saturday.  Albers will make a presentation of legislative updates and then give attendees the chance to ask questions. All 56th Senate District residents are invited to participate. The meeting will be held in conjunction with State Senator Chip Rogers from Woodstock. It will take place at Mountain Park City Hall, 118 Lake Shore Drive, Mountain Park on Saturday, Mar. 26 from 11 a.m. - noon.
