The National Association of Letter Carriers' 21st annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive is coming up and North Fulton residents who participate will be making a big difference locally, say North Fulton Community Charities leaders. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes on Saturday, May 11. The campaign is the nation's largest single-day food drive and North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) is the local recipient. "Every year the number of families that come to NFCC increases in the summer months by five percent to 10 percent," said NFCC Food Pantry Coordinator Kevin Tracy. As a result of the community’s generosity, 780 families and 150 seniors were provided food, gift cards, turkeys, and pumpkin bread by North Fulton Community Charities just in time for Thanksgiving. Over 400 volunteers helped to collect, sort, fill and distribute the food items. Families began lining up in the early morning hours the night before at the distribution site. Smiles, sore backs, tired eyes and thankful tears were all part of the special service event. “We are so blessed to live in a community that recognizes and responds to the needs of those less fortunate. During his Presidency, Ronald Reagan said ‘We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.’ There are a lot of people NFCC sees everyday living in North Fulton …

North Fulton Community Charities' (NFCC) food pantry is a little fuller today, thanks to the "Summer Jam" party held by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Thursday night, which required a food donation "cover charge" from each attendee. The chamber offices were overflowing with the crowd, most coming straight from their own offices to the event, or perhaps with a quick stop at a local grocery store for something to donate. This event was part of the chamber's week-long food drive for NFCC. The food drive culminated with an active push today to fill the charity's truck that was parked at the chamber offices off Haynes Bridge Road at Rainwater Drive. Businesses that have been drop-off points for the food drive in Alpharetta, Milton…

The week-long Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Food Drive is in its second day, as the business organization works to stock the shelves of a local food pantry. Everybody thinks of those struggling to survive the weak economy with no jobs or low-income positions during the cooler winter months near the holidays. But during the summer, it's easy to forget the need. "Their need grows during the summer months as children are home from school," the chamber's release on the food drive said. School children receive reduced cost or free breakfast and lunch during the school year, but not in the summer. The chamber's food drive helps stock the shelves of North Fulton Community Charities, which in turn provides food to a growing number of …

“Tee up” for the community as North Fulton Community Charities prepares for its 4th Annual “Swing into Action with NFCC” Golf Tournament, July 23. NFCC’s mission is to build self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness and hunger in our community by providing emergency assistance and enrichment programs. The annual golf event is a great opportunity for corporate, civic, and faith based groups or individuals to support families living in the North Fulton community. Currently, NFCC sees an average of 100 families per day and provides nine tons of food per week. In 2011, they assisted over 5,000 families and provided $1.2 million in financial assistance. As one single mother said in a heartfelt letter: “Together with NFCC, I was able to raise …
